The client's vision was clear: to create a home that respects regional heritage while embracing modern comforts and functionality. Our approach focused on integrating Islamic geometric patterns, natural materials, and a warm, earthy colour palette to achieve a sophisticated and welcoming environment. This project exemplifies how a deep understanding of cultural nuances, combined with precise execution, can transform a space into a unique reflection of its inhabitants.

Our initial consultation for this villa renovation Arabian Ranches focused on understanding the client's lifestyle and aspirations. The homeowners frequently host guests and required a dedicated formal majlis that felt both grand and intimate. This space became a focal point, designed with custom-carved timber screens that offer privacy without impeding the flow of light. The screens feature a contemporary interpretation of mashrabiya, allowing for subtle visual interaction between the majlis and the main living areas. We sourced these from a specialised joinery manufacturer, ensuring authentic craftsmanship and material quality.

Key material choices often include natural wood (walnut, teak), brass or copper metals, intricate tiles (zellige or traditional patterns), marble, and luxurious textiles like silk and velvet. For this project, we specified solid walnut for custom cabinetry, polished brass for light fixtures and decorative inlays, and a bespoke plaster finish for feature walls, ensuring each material contributed to the luxurious and authentic feel of the space.
